River Bluff Library Media Center

The River Bluff LMC has an extensive collection of fiction, non-fiction, and reference books to support the curriculum taught throughout the school. The library also has 30 computers for students to use for research, to produce various documents, and to send and receive email from their teachers. In addition, there are areas for large and small groups to work and quiet reading areas for individual students. There are many activities throughout the year at the River Bluff LMC, so come and check us out!

The River Bluff LMC is staffed by Mande Shecterle, library media specialist, and Anne Cutter, library assistant. If you have any questions while you're browsing our shelves or our website, please let us know.

The LMC is open Monday - Friday during school hours (8:10 am - 3:20 pm).  Stop by and see us anytime!

Mission

The mission of the River Bluff Library Media Center is to inspire a passion for knowledge, to teach students to become responsible users and creators of information, to integrate technology into the curriculum through collaboration, and to encourage students to become lifelong readers.

Guidelines

The River Bluff LMC provides access to technology, research materials, and general reading materials for all middle school students, faculty, and staff.  The following guidelines will be used to help staff and students maintain an environment conducive to learning, research, and reading.

  • Students should have a pass when coming to the library during school hours.  Passes can be given from any teacher to check out a book, complete research in the library, or use/borrow a desktop or Chromebook.

  • Students may check out up to five items at a time.  Materials are generally checked out for 3 weeks and then should be returned to the library or renewed.

  • Students should maintain a level of volume conducive to allowing those around them to complete homework, research, or read.

  • Light snacks and beverages are allowed in the LMC, but students may not place them near the computers.

  • Students using technology for applications not related to curriculum (i.e. games, social media, etc) will be asked to log off immediately.

  • Cell phones are not allowed in the library.  "Off and Away from Bell to Bell"

Procedures for Overdue, Lost, Damaged and Vandalized Materials

All general LMC materials (books & magazines) circulate for 3 weeks with one renewal allowed. All reference materials are normally given overnight and are due before 1st hour unless a special arrangement has been made with the LMC staff.

Lost materials are charged a replacement fee based on the current purchase price of the material(s).  The fee for damaged and vandalized materials is based on the condition and the cost of the item(s).

Lunchtime Guidelines

The LMC is open during student’s lunchtimes so students may have a quiet place to study and to access resources.  Students coming into the LMC during their lunch period must sign in for safety reasons.  Students may not eat lunch in the LMC.
